I am off for my week long vacation. Do tell me that you miss me in the meanwhile, as I will be checking the comments from time to time. Though I promise to have fun during the holiday, I will definitely miss my Delhi and blogger friends.

Till the next time we meet!
Take care and miss me!

Foodie's Delight

Delhi is the place to eat. Anywhere you go, a market, an office complex, a residential colony, a garden, a monument and I mean anywhere... there will be something special to eat. This is the lane facing my office. Full of eateries, cafe's, restaurants, pubs, bars... it is any foodie's delight.

Imagine my plight... with such tasty food at an arm's length working is a constant struggle... and yet I continue to smile hehehe. :-)

This photo was clicked by my talented younger brother Akshat. He told me that a wall in his principal's office is adorned with the symbols associated with various religions. This photo is a proof that St Micheal's School, where Akshat studies, is surely a secular school, which respects all the religions.

This is one of my favourite stores when it comes to shopping for Sarees. This is Nalli adjacent to my office. I get to see beautiful sarees every day while coming and going to office. And then there are days when I cannot control myself and go inside the shop to have a look at the beautiful fabrics. Although I don't wear sarees everyday, I love the attire. It is a tad bit difficult to carry, especially for us Jeans clad women of today. It is almost unbelievable that my grandmom had started wearing sarees since the age of 8. Phew!

Already Packing My Bags!

Started packing my bags. I know its too early, but I am way too excited. Its just some 9-10 days left for my holiday and I am busy getting a deep hole in my pocket right now. I spotted this particular street side shop in Karol Bagh. The bags, the sales guys promised would last me a lifetime. They have a trendy collection but I am too much of a cynic to trust the verbal assurances and passed the awesome bargains they were offering. It was worth a photo for the blog though.

Do visit Priyanka's Point to read some of my new work. :-)

Statesman House

I have featured this building once before. I took this photograph during one of my recent visits to the Oxford Cha Bar. I cannot help but love this building.

BJP, Polling Agents

This is the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) stand, where the party's polling agents were seated to help the voters.

I decided post one more election related photo today and answer the poll queries made by the people in the previous post.

Lemon: the index fingers of voters are inked to ensure that one person does not vote more than once.

That is the chicken: The voter turnout was 53% in Delhi. Not as high as we would have liked, especially in light of the recent terrorist attacks across the Indian cities.

We fared better than Mumbai though, just 44% of the city's voters came out even after suffering through the November carnage.

Dot hai toh HOT hai! (If you have a dot, you are HOT)

The star voters of Delhi. These are fingers (the hand with the gold ring is mine) of my colleagues, who went to cast their votes before coming to office today. Delhi went to polls today to elect its representatives to Lower House, called the Lok Sabha, of the Parliament. The campaign urging people to vote was rigorous this time around and I hope many more people like us went out to vote, braving the scorching sun. Sporting a DOT on our fingers is so HOT today and most of us in Delhi are celebrating the festival of Democracy today.

India Gate, Once Again

I admit it. I cannot get enough of India Gate. It is just a 5-minute drive from my home and if the evening breeze picks up slightly, I am there with anyone who is kind enough to agree or meek enough to be bullied. Here is a black and white photo of India Gate with the moon keeping a vigil on the World War One monument.

300th Post: Child Exploitation

If you thought that remarks over Indian kids starting young were mere jokes and said in jest. You were wrong! This is a proof of how a child as young as a year-old is working in MNC office in Delhi.

Jokes apart, this is Chiya, daughter of my colleague Anuja. Anuja had brought her daughter to office on her day off to help us relieve our stress. And she is definitely a stress buster.

India Islamic Cultural Centre

This, as you can read, is the India Islamic Cultural Centre. I had gone there to see a play titled Mahim Junction. A creation of celebrated director, Sohila Kapoor, the play revolved around over the top characters based on the Indian cinema of the 70s. They had two common links - Mahim Railway station and Hindi film industry. Though the performances were good, I was not too happy with the content. The gathering constituted mostly of the Delhi's socially conscious elite or the people I like to call pseudos. :-)

Nevertheless, the place was worth a visit.

P.S: Tomorrow I will post the 300th photo of the blog :-)

Theme Day: Shadow: Friendship

A friendship so strong that even our shadows are inseparable. :-)

This is one of my favourite photographs ever as three of my most favourite people feature in this capture. On the left is one of the best people I have ever come across - Gurneet. She now lives in Calgary with her husband. On the right is a guy, who has the best sense of humour - Ashish, he is still in Delhi but work keeps us busy and we have not met in a very long time. In the centre is of course ME.

And I am one of my most favourite people. Lolz.

Have a happy May!
